The assessment journey

Getting an ADHD assessment is a clinical process that follows a simple, straightforward set of steps.

  1. Step 1

    Getting started

Begin your journey in one of two ways: *

    • Pay privately

    • Get a GP referral

    * We support patients privately UK-wide, and accept NHS referrals via Right to Choose in England only.

  2. Step 2

    Pre-assessment forms

    Fill in some documents

    • These cover your childhood, history and experiences

    • Someone who knows you well gives supporting information

    • Once we've got everything, we'll book your appointment

  3. Step 3

    Booking

    We'll be in touch

    • Once we've received all your documentation, we'll book your appointment and reach out by phone or email

  4. Step 4

    Your appointment

Meet your clinician over video call

    • One of our expert clinicians will guide you through a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment

    • You'll share your perspective and experiences

    • We'll help you feel comfortable and relaxed*

    • Appointment number and length varies by assessment type

*If you need reasonable adjustments, let us know.

  5. Step 5

    Your report and next steps

    • This confirms whether your diagnosis is positive or negative

    • The clinician will discuss your outcome with you

    • We'll explain your options clearly

    • You decide how you want to move forward

'The assessment was so much more relaxed than I expected it to be. I'd built it up in my head as this really mentally taxing process, but there was never a point where I felt rushed or cut off. My assessor was so patient – and I talk a lot.'

How can a diagnosis help?

Receiving a positive diagnosis for ADHD can be a significant moment, and it's natural to have mixed feelings about it. Here are three ways it can help:

Get to know your mind

Understanding how your brain works can be life-changing. A clear diagnosis means you can start to work with your mind, not against it.

Discover support options at work

A formal diagnosis means you can request reasonable adjustments like flexible working, regular breaks, more structured feedback, or a quieter space.

Ask others for help

It's easier to explain what you need to a family member, manager or friend when you have the right language to describe it.
