Our Green Plan

We’re committed to delivering accessible, high-quality services, while reducing the environmental impact of our operations.

Our digital-first model avoids much of the travel, estate use and paper consumption associated with traditional care.

We still create emissions through technology, homeworking, procurement, deliveries and business travel. This Green Plan sets out a proportionate approach to measuring that impact, reducing avoidable emissions and supporting NHS net zero ambitions.

How we'll do it

We'll embed environmental responsibility into operational and governance decisions without compromising clinical quality, patient safety, accessibility, data protection or service resilience.

In practice, this looks like:

  • Maintaining a digital-first and paper-light model where clinically and operationally appropriate.

  • Measuring our material emissions using proportionate NHS-aligned tools and transparent assumptions.

  • Prioritising practical reductions in prescribing and postal activity, digital infrastructure, equipment, procurement and travel.

  • Considering sustainability when selecting and reviewing material suppliers.

  • Engaging staff in simple, achievable actions and report progress through existing governance arrangements.

  • Reviewing climate-related risks through business continuity and organisational risk processes.

How we'll measure it

We’ll review our progress through existing governance arrangements.

Our core measures are:

  • Annual emissions estimate and important changes in the main sources.

  • Delivery status of the priority actions in this plan.

  • Use of environmental criteria in material procurements and supplier reviews.

  • Relevant staff communication or training completion.

  • Material sustainability or climate-resilience risks recorded and managed.

This plan supports Noodle’s contribution to NHS net zero and social value expectations. Relevant commissioning or contractual requirements will be confirmed and applied as they arise. Environmental commitments must be implemented consistently with clinical, information governance, employment, procurement and business continuity obligations.
